I spend a good portion of my week looking at code, system logs, business workflows, and inspection reports. In the digital world, feedback loops are fast, artificial, and often disconnected from physical reality.
That is why living on a small farm in Southwest Washington isn't a hobby for me—it's an essential operating anchor. When you step away from the laptop to prune a cherry tree, check fence lines, or dig post holes, nature provides immediate, unyielding feedback. You cannot prompt your way out of wet clay or bad weather.
Homeschooling and Independent Thinking
My wife and I homeschool our kids because we believe real education happens at the intersection of curiosity, responsibility, and practical contribution. Our kids learn math through project measurements, biology through soil and seasons, and work ethic by having real chores that matter.
Technology is a tool in our home, not a babysitter. We teach our kids how systems work so they become creators rather than passive consumers of screens.
Building Systems to Buy Back Time
